YBhg Dato' Zakri Afandi Ismail, graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Accountancy from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He is also a member of the Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Australia and a Certified Financial Planner.

YBhg Dato' Zakri Afandi Ismail began his career as an Auditor with Price Waterhouse from 1991 until 1995 and while working as an auditor, he was also an accounting lecturer at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia until 1996. Subsequently, he became the Head of Internal Audit Department of EPE Power Corporation Berhad until 1997 before joining HBN Management Sdn. Bhd. (Group Monitoring Company of Renong Berhad) until his resignation in 1999.

Currently, YBhg Dato' Zakri Afandi Ismail is a Director of KAF Investment Funds Berhad and Chairman of the Audit Committee and Member of the Nomination Committee of a public listed company. He also sits on the Board of various private companies involved in the businesses of commercial explosives, maintenance of air traffic radar and aircraft, property development, urban services and plantation, contractor and fabricator for power, oil and gas, and general industry.
